FAQs

What services do you offer?

1

Boyd Therapy and Wellness offers individual therapy and couples therapy, available in-person in London, Ontario or virtually across Ontario and Nunavut. We work with adults navigating a wide range of concerns, with clinical specialties in complex trauma, BPD, first responders, and relationship dynamics. Whether you're looking for short-term support around a specific issue or longer-term work that goes deeper, we'll figure out what fits together.

How do I get started?

2

The easiest way is to book a free 15-minute consultation through our website. It's a quick call where you can ask questions, get a feel for whether we're a good fit, and hear a bit about how we work. No pressure to commit to anything. If it feels right, we'll book your first full session from there. If it doesn't, no hard feelings, and we're happy to point you toward someone who might be a better match.

What makes Boyd Therapy and Wellness different?

3

A few things. We believe the relationship between you and your therapist is the work, not just the setting for it. That means we move at your pace, we don't rush depth before safety is there, and we don't treat you like a checklist of symptoms. We're also honest about what we do and don't know, we're willing to be real people in the room with you, and we take clients who've had hard experiences with past therapy seriously. If you've been burned before, we get it, and we'll talk about it openly.

I booked my first appointment, now what?

4

You'll get a confirmation email with your appointment details and a link to our client portal, where you'll complete a few intake forms before your first session. These cover the standard stuff: consent, background, what's bringing you in. If your session is virtual, you'll get a secure video link. If you're coming in-person, you'll get the address and any parking or entry details. Reach out anytime before your appointment if something isn't clear or you have questions.

What should I do to prepare for my first appointment?

5

Honestly, not much. You don't need to have your story organized or know exactly what you want to work on. The first session is mostly about getting to know each other, me hearing what's going on for you, and us starting to map out what you're hoping for from therapy. If it helps, you can jot down a few things you want to make sure to mention, but it's not required. Come as you are.

What if I have had bad experiences with therapy or mental health supports in the past?

6

This is something we hear often, and it's taken seriously here. Past experiences of feeling unheard, pushed too fast, judged, or handed a one-size-fits-all approach can make reaching out again really hard. If that's you, please know: you're allowed to name that. You're allowed to tell your therapist what didn't work before and what you need to feel safe now. We'd rather know than guess. Rebuilding trust in this kind of space takes time, and we're not in a rush. Honestly, not much. You don't need to have your story organized or know exactly what you want to work on.
